Innerdalen Valley

Travelled : 121km plus 1 ferry
Stay: Nerdal - free parking area, WC, bins  62.73862 8.70997

Colourful lupins bordering the roadside.

After a peaceful night we ventured back to the 65 and we followed the river through a pretty valley before turning off onto road 670.

We then took the ferry from Kvanne to Rykkjem ( we paid 213nok for 6.5m fare 197 + senior 16 due to the guy actually looking like he stepped out the measurements of Bluey).

We then took the 70 to Alvundeid, where we followed the sign to Innerdalen, supposedly Noway's most beautiful mountain valley. After 13km we reached the parking area from which you can walk 4 km  along the gravel road to Innerdashyttene (overnight cabins run by the Mountain Hiking Assoc.). At the 3.5km mark there was Renndølsetra, a summer pasture and farm houses that also provided food and beds for the weary hiker.

From here many different hikes can be started.

Mark was particularly interested in the new wooden building being constructed from local timber using original and modern day techniques.

Birch tree used as a mallet
Note the moss between the logs and the sodden roof for added insulation.

Other buildings we were told were up to 600 years old.

This was located on the banks of a beautiful lake with waterfalls cascading from the glaciers above with Dalatarnet mountain at 1394m towering over the valley like a natural spire.

We enjoyed our 2 hours of hiking, although it was in the rain. We could only speculate how amazing it would be on a sunny day. Never the less it was worth it.
