Tumby Bay, Eyre Peninsula

Today we traversed from the west to east coast of the Eyre Peninsula. It’s a beautiful drive through lush countryside of wheat, canola, chickpeas, lentils and sheep.

We stop half way in Cummins that appears to be a very active service town for the surrounding graziers. The local park offers some history of the area… reflected in the amazing mosaics.

We continued on to Tumby Bay. It has a lovely vibe especially the foreshore with the Norfolk Pines and grass flanking the whites sandy beach and beautiful blue sea. Such a picture of tranquility. Also for us travellers it offers all the essentials including cheap fuel, water, a dump point. Thank you to the East coast.

We travel a little bit more north to Cape Hardy Beach and find ourselves a lovely spot. What more could we ask.

Unfortunately our trip came to an abrupt end due to the very sad passing of  my mum...
Mark dropped me off at the Adelaide airport and he continued home alone....

Elliston, Drummond Point, Eyre Peninsula SA

Today we travel via Elliston to Point Drummond Eyre Peninsula South Australia
As luck would have it we arrived at the Colton Bakehouse just as the baker was loading up his roadside stall. He is relatively new at it having bought the residence associated with it only 18 months ago. He went to learn how bake and to use the oven in Farina.
At the  Elliston Jetty we put a cuppa on and enjoyed the fruit buns we bought.

We then admired the coastal views along a drive just out of the township.

On the way further south we popped into a rest area that talked about the making if the dry walls that are still seen in the fields.

We bypassed a few things as we have been here before and made a v line for Drummond Point. We were surprised that there was no one else here… maybe by the end of the day someone will turn up.

We return to our spot we had last time and settle in. We obviously disturbed a brown snake as it slithered away hopefully we won’t see it again..Mark got the shovel out just in case! I then discovered that the UHT milk boxes did not enjoy the corrugations of the last week or so. So it was clean up time. Luckily it wasn’t a complete empty just a leak although a bit smelly. We while away the afternoon sitting in the sun with a breeze and the sound of the waves…

looking forward to a beautiful sunset this evening.

Venus Bay, Talia Caves, Eyre Peninsula SA

We enjoyed our stay at Pildappa Rock. Our next destination was Venus Bay on the Eyre Peninsula. We have visited this area twice before and it is a favourite of ours. We do the obligatory walk out in the pier. The colour of the water is so beautiful.

At the nearby lookouts and admire the amazing coastline. We even spot a pod of dolphins but they are too far to get a good photo.

A lovely fence..what a great effort
The Needle.
Not far south is another great spot, Talia Caves area. We were planning on staying the night on the cliffs but when we arrived the road was closed to that area, so we parked up behind the dunes instead.
We explore the Woolshed Cavern.
We thought this was a stalactite but on closure look it was honeycomb..there were lots of bees around.
Then walk out to The Tub.

Again enjoying the beautiful coastline.

A few other campers join us by nights end the most we have had around us for quite sometime.
