Havoysund Norway

Travelled : 190km
Stay: Havoysund free parking at Port  N70.99485 E24.67756 service point at Statoil

Although we woke up to sunshine, there was evidence that it had been  snowing during the early morning (can't call it night as it never gets dark! ).  We set off back down the road for a few km before stopping at a wayside  stop with an awesome view.

We watched a dolphin swim around from Bluey's window.

We had some breaky and I did some photo downloads from the cameras and hoping to get some great footage off the dashcam.  You can imagine our disappointment when there was no footage of our great drive yesterday to Nordkapp! Lesson learnt - when dashcam beeps and says card needs formatting, you better do it or else no footage! Luckily we had taken some videos with our camera and we were now following the same route southwards so we would get some footage of that and the weather was sunnier.

Along the way we stopped in the port town of Honningsvag whose main industry is fishing with a bit of tourism thrown in for the passengers of the Hurtigruten ferries that stop here twice a day. It's origins were in supplying coastal towns goods but soon became a famous tourist route with a 34 port cruise from Bergen to Kirkenes.

It's an appropriate sculpture for the area..a fish hook!
Tickle the troll!
The way the weather is going we think we might need to tow one of these with us to get through Norway!
Interesting art work using gumboots.

Nearly tempted to buy some of these!
The Hurtigruten.
Local produce for sale at the souvenir shop.
Smelly fish on the drying rack.
After a stroll we continued on and found another wayside stop for lunch with another incredible view further down the road.
First spring flowers seen here.

We turned off E69 and proceeded on the 889 to Havoysund which has been classified as a National Tourist Route.

It was a beautiful drive along the water and over snow covered passes with a few interesting attractions along the way, finishing off at the fishing village of Havoysund.

Unfortunately the rest of the afternoon was consumed with restoring Mark's ipad as I mistakenly decided to do an update whilst driving and it failed due to the Internet connection stopping midway.  Second IT lesson for the day!  Good news was after 5 hours Mark had his ipad but he had lost some info due to the backup being from before we left. At least he has a book to read tonight!

By the way the in the red cabin is a shower, a toilet and washer and dryer!
