Eggum and Viking Museum,Borg Norway

Travelled : 59km visiting Eggum and Viking Museum in Borg
Stay: Viking Museum, Borg overflow carpark, gravel, level. 68.2467 13.7608

Views from rest stop with toilets at Torvdalshalsen.

We drove to Eggum, a fishing village with a rest area next to the ruins of a WWII German communications tower.

The entry fee was 20kr (100kr extra to stay overnight). Toilets and water were available. We managed to find a parking spot amongst the Motorhomes that had stayed overnight.

We then went for a lovely walk along the coast. We doubled back when we reached the 2nd lake on the way back we walked to the first lake to the hydro electric plant.

We continued a little further towards the light house in the company of lots of mumma sheep and their babies.

We saw a unique sculpture of a head looking out to sea from one direction, but changed shape from different angles.

After a cuppa we ventured back to the E10 and stopped at the Viking Musem in Borg (140kr ea). We enjoyed the rest of the afternoon exploring the reconstructed biggest Viking chieftain's longhouse found in Norway and learnt about the Viking history in this area. We were told that 'Vikings' was not the name of a race of people, but of an activity (raiding and trading during the 8th to 11th century) that some Scandanivians did.

The emergency exit signs.
We also walked down to see the reconstructed Viking ship and tried our hand at archery and axe throwing along the way.

As it was getting late in the day when we finished, we decided to stay in the overflow carpark and were later joined by one other Motorhome (surprised there were not more).
