Victoria Howqua Hills Historical Area

Travelled: 220km to Sheepyard Flat Campground in Howqua Hills Historic Area.

We were so happy to set off again in the caravan especially after the recent 5 day lockdown due to Covid-19. We were heading to a favourite camping spot and some friends were joining us for the week.

There are a few areas that you can get phone reception to keep in contact with the outside world! This one is along Doughertys Track (there is also reception at Fry's Hut, 8 Mile Gap and the head of the walk comimg into).

There is is plenty of bird life around camp.

Every year the farmers' cows graze through the campsites.

Not sure if you can is the "OK" in front of the hole formed by the leaves?

Mark drove to Fry's Hut hunting for wood.

We enjoyed daily walks including going to Fry's Hut along the river track that has interpretation signs along the way explaining the mining history in this area.

The history also included the 100m tunnel dug out in the 1800's .

Lovely swimming spot at Tunnel bend access via the campsite.

This picturesque cabin is set on the opposite bank of the Howqua River from Fry's Hut.

This year we drove further up the road into the National Park up to 8 Mile Gap and explored the campsites along the way.

The following week our son and his family joined us which was alot of fun.
