Australia NSW heading home

We braved the streets of Sydney with the caravan to go and visit Michael and Pam (also EU Motorhomers) and enjoyed a lovely time swapping travel stories over good food and wine. We ventured out to do some whale watching, spotting a few at Cape Solander in Kama Botany Bay National Park.

Once again we appreciated the warm hospitality. Now it’s time to head home to lockdown!
Our journey home continues. We decided to fill up the fridge in Goulburn (so we didn’t need to go shopping when we returned to lockdown).

The big Merino

We stopped to have a look at the Dog on the Tuckerbox..

We then had a pleasant stroll around Gundagai.
A gold rush town.

A memorial to the aboriginals that helped save many people from the flood of 1852.

During the 420km drive we admired the beautiful country side.

We thought to spot in Woomargama, about 60km from the border, but we were having issues with the van batteries not charging.

So we decided to make a run for the border and booked a caravan park in Wodonga (Albury didn’t want us!) We sailed by at least 5km of traffic banked up going north into NSW waiting to be processed by the police. As it was late in the day we settled in.

Our final leg home was through some picturesque country. We stopped in the lovely little township of Euroa along the way. A perfect end before entering the COVID lockDown in Greater Melbourne.

We did a total of 5,118km

Australia NSW Newcastle

Newcastle
On our way towards Newcastle we stopped in Merriwa. Mark watched the Bombers/Magpies replay and then we had a walk around.
Just a few Km out of town we had a look at Battery Rocks.
We ended the day  at Jerry’s Plains. The next day we had a stroll around Kurri Kurri, admiring all the murals around town.
We drove through the vineyards in the Hunter Valley.
It was early afternoon by the time we reached Bret and Cheryl’s home in Newcastle.
The following day we were driven around Newcastle and strolled along the beautiful coastline.
The next morning we called into their property on Lake Macquarie and said our goodbyes. It was a quick but pleasant visit and we appreciate their hospitality tremendously.
