L’Oisans région France

Today we decided that if we kept going south the weather would just get hotter. So we turned right into the N85 and headed back north. Even in this direction there are so many options on which roads to take. Every year we have traveled in Europe I follow our route in a road atlas, each year in a different colour. So we are trying to go in as many different routes we can. Although sometimes we can’t help but to double up somewhere.

With this in mind we turned off the N85 after Corps towards the Col d’Ornon.

Along the way we stopped at a small village.

Our drive was full of amazing views.

After the Col we descended into Le Bourg d’Oisans and the tourist holiday chaos. We managed a sneaky parking spot and went for a walk.

Once again we had to decide which way we would go from here as we have been on most of the roads before. We consulted Park4night and headed for La Grave for the 3rd time (2013, 2014).

We went for a walk through the popular village up through the narrow lanes to the church which has spectacular views of the glaciers.

The village does not tolerate overnight parking for camping-cars so we headed up to Le Chazelet where we could lookout at the glaciers from Blueys window.  We enjoyed the milder temperature and breeze. The forecast is for storms tonight, clearing in the morning. We hope anyway as we plan to take the chairlift to 3200m altitude tomorrow… fingers crossed.
