The rain was our companion as we descended from Tignes Les Brevieres to Bourg Saint Maurice. Our aim was to fill up Blueys LPG tank (17lt/ €0.99 -used only for heating and cooking). We also filled up Bluey’s fridge at Super U.
We then took off up to Cormet de Roselend. We managed a photo in the rain.
Products of the region for sale.
It was a beautiful drive up here. We pass the pastures where the cows graze and produce the milk to make the Beaufort cheese.
At Lake Roselend we take pictures of the lovely chapel.
Then head down to the dam wall for a walk.
We decided it was too early in the day to stop so we continued down to Beaufort (2014). We managed a sneaky parking spot in the middle of town and went for a walk.
We popped into the Beaufort cheese factory and learnt how this cheese was made. The milk is collected from 17000 cows that during summer are grazing in 3 valleys of the Savoie region. They produce 15,000kg of milk per year.
Each 40kg cheese wheel is made from 400litres of milk. Of course we had to buy some.. from here we went over the Col des Saisses, the ski resort here was very busy and Mark has been having issues with the altitude, so we ventured down the mountain again to find a spot in Flumet (900m altitude). We parked beside an old water mill and a lovely little lake that is used for swimming and water play. There were also several walks in the forest.
