Villages of Baden Württemberg Germany

Today we continued to travel across Germany through the Baden Württemberg area trying to avoid places we have previously visited.

We stopped to get a few supplies for Bluey’s fridge in Messkirch. Mark is extremely happy to find his favourite German beer, Augustinerbrau, at the great price of €1.19/$2 for a 500ml stubby! Got to love Germany…the diesel is cheaper too at around €1.53 (than we have paid so far in France €1.64ave).

We parked Bluey closer to the old centre and had a walk around.

Its main historical buildings surrounded the castle (1557) and St.Martin baroque church (1773) on top of the hill.

This is the oldest existing timbered building with elaborate k-bracing (1455).

Saw our first stork in the nest for this year..

Next we visited Riedlingen, that is situated on the banks of the Daube River. A little bigger and with more half-timbered buildings and some painted facades as well.

The writing in the door is for the census…. It too sure what the mean tho .

Haven’t seen these before..possibly use them for parades ?

We had a delicious kebab for lunch.
The cigarette dispensing machines are found everywhere in Germany
They seem quite cheap in comparison to Australia.
We then drove through the gates of the city before continuing on our way.

Next was Biberach, another town rich in history. We followed the tourist map to a few of the main attractions. St.Martin church is one of the oldest “shared” churches of Germany. The frescos inside were very impressive.

The market square was surrounded by some beautiful buildings.

This is one of the oldest bourgeois houses in southern Germany built in 1319.

This tower was built as a lookout for fires in the town.

The old quarter of Weberberg was famous for its production of fabric. In the 1500’s it was said that there were 400 looms in the city.

This building still fits in but with some modern elements
Love a well designed drain lid …

We finished the day with a drive to Krumbach. Unfortunately the motorhome parking area was full so we ended up going at the sports stadium as we had had enough driving for today having done 201km.
