Werfen fortress Austria

Travelled: 89km
Visited: Werfen Hohenwerfen fortress
Stay:Germany-Freilassing-free parking, no services N47.84031 E12.98599

After a noisy night - electrical thunder storm, heavy rain and surprisingly a bit of traffic noise, we were on our way to Werfen. It was a beautiful drive through the valley. We got to the fortress just after 9 and had a look around until the 10am tour. It was quite a big group and slow going but we did learn a few interesting facts. We saw the Chapel, torture chamber, dungeon, arsenal, belfry and royal apartment. We then watched a birds of pray demonstration and finished our visit looking at the Falconry museum.
On the way to our parking spot in Freilassing (Germany) near Salzburg, we stopped to do a dump and fill in Golling. It is also possible to stay here the night. We drove through heavy rain on the motorway and then waited out until it stopped raining to go and investigate the train for tomorrow.
