Triglav National Park Slovenia

Travelled: 66km
Stay: Parking area along Pisnica River and Lakes at Kranjska Gora. Free, no facilities. N46°28.2492' E13°47.0862'
Visited: Triglav National Park

We didn't rush off this morning, Mark did the dumping and filling and after breakfast we went for a walk along the Soca river.

We then drove along this river which is very popular for rafting. After Bovec we turned into the Triglav National Park. It is Slovenia's only national park and is named after the highest mountain. There are 400+ peaks rising above 2000m within this park. We stopped in a pretty picnic area on the side of the road for a lunch break.

Shortly after the road became a windy one starting at 49 hairpin turns. We quickly went up in elevation. It was a very picturesque drive.

We reached the col but it was crazy with cars parked ON the road, making it impossible to stop and difficult to even negotiate our way through. There was even a parking attendant! Not far down the other side we managed to find a place to stop and take in the beautiful scenery.

Then it was more hairpin turns to our stop for this afternoon and tonight. A newly created parking area next to the river and a couple of lakes that has been very popular today due to the hot day. We managed to brave the FREEZING waters for a very revitalising dip. There are no signs forbidding motorhomes and we are only 35mins from Bled, our destination to visit tomorrow, so hopefully no one will move us on...time will tell.
