Vintgar Gorge (Bled SLO) to Ferlach Austria

Travelled:107km
Visited: Bled, Vintgar Gorge (SLO) Ferlach (A)
Stay: Ferlach-camperstop parking €4/24h, € services electricity/water/dumping. Big area close to town, along side of a river.

A few other campers joined us last night but we were the first to leave this morning, wanting to get an early start to visit Bled.

Things were already pumping when we arrived and after the tranquillity of the countryside we felt a bit over whelmed! We drove around the lake to the camp site and contemplated whether we would park next to it for €10/day.

We had a chat to the friendly parking attendant who was keeping the area very clean. In the end we preferred to walk in a gorge rather than 7km around the lake. Before we left we bought the local speciality...

So off we drove 3.5km to the gorge, going through very narrow village lanes until we got to the free carpark. (We later saw the sign say 'no campers').

We paid €4 each to walk along a suspended boardwalk through a beautiful gorge for an hour and a half. A lovely way to spend the morning.

We then filled up Bluey and did some shopping before taking the road over the pass into Austria. But before we left Slovenia we again saw this sign for the caves....goodbye!

We decided to keep out of the heat this afternoon and found a shady spot in the camperstop in Ferlach. After having a refreshing dip in the river, we did some research on what we might like to see in Austria.

Later when it was a bit cooler we went for a walk into town and enjoyed our first Austrian beer...Prost!
