Goodbye Slovakia, hello Czech Republic

Travelled:300km
Visited:Trencin(SK), Uhersky Brod(CZ), Slovkov castle(CZ)
Stay: Telc - mixed carpark 20czk/hr or 100czk/day 7am-8pm no facilities, next to service station, walk to town.

It was a bigger day than expected. Our destination was Brno but things happen and plans change right up to the last minute!
We left camp and parked up near the old town of Trencin. Its a bit run down, we walked around but did not visit the castle.

From here we took the E50 into the Czech Republic, also part of the EU so no border checks but the currency is CZK (€1=25czk). We bought a vignette for the motorways 330czk/10 days and were on our way towards Brno.

We stopped in Uhersky Brod and followed the town walk from the Tourist Information brochure. Some of the high lights of what we saw was the Dominican Church,

 the Town Hall,

the Parish Church in the main square and the Obelisk.

We then continued our journey and stopped again in Slavkov to visit the castle 130czk each. We spent an 1 1/2 on a guided tour with our own English print outs of extensive information on the castle, of Renaissance style owned by the Moravian noble house of Kaunitz. Unfortunately no photos were allowed inside.

From here it wasn't far to Brno, but once arriving here, we decided to push on. We had read that Telc was a pretty village so programmed Camy to take us there. The fast route was the motorway then south. But when we got to the turn off it was closed! We continued on for 6km but took the non motorway back as it looked quite congested due to all the road works. Unbeknown to us the minor road was also diverted due to road works and we ended up driving through forests and farm land. We saw cows in a paddock that we hadn't seen for a long time! Our original destination was to be a lovely campsite in Opatov, but at the last minute we changed our minds and headed to Telc, which is meant to be a very pretty village. There was plenty of room in the parking area and we needed a refreshing drink after a HOT and long day behind the wheel. Tomorrow morning we will visit the old town before heading off again towards Prague.
