Visited:Krk Island Croatia. Pivka Military Museum Slovenia.

We woke up to the sun rise showing of the starkness of Krk Island, mainly caused by the bora wind.

After a stroll along the harbour of Senj, we said our farewells to Mike and Jan. They were heading to Slovenia while we planned to see more of the Croatian coast.

It was a picturesque drive to the bridge that links Krk Island (the largest Adtiatic Island) to the main land. We paid the €6.50 toll and drove along the centre road to the town of Krk.

Unfortunately we found that motorhomes were not welcome to use any of the towns parking and had to stay only in the camp grounds. So we drove past a few camps in various spots on the Island and found them over crowded (it is now the high season) and incredibly expensive €35. We had a lunch stop under the trees in Klimno. On the way we noticed people covering themselves in mud from the beach.

We decided that it was time for us to leave the coast and head inland into Slovenia. We still had some kuna to spend so we filled up the tank and bought some lunch and off we went. Before the boarder we stopped to buy a vignette for €15/7days so we can drive on the Slovenian motorways.

It wasn't far to the Plivka Military Museum. We parked in a dedicated motorhome spot and paid a reduced rate of €6 each to visit as it currently being renovated (completion Sept 15). We read about the Slovenia/Yugoslavia conflicts throughout history including WWI, WWII, the Cold War and the latest liberation war in 1991. We then had a look at the tanks, artillery, vehicles, fighter aircrafts and helicopter along with the sabotage submarine.

Feeling tired we decided we would just stay overnight in the carpark and be ready for our next adventure tomorrow.
