Halberstadt Germany

Travelled: 59km
Visited:Magdeburg, Halberstadt
Stay:Halberstadt-free parking, no facilities, short walk to all sights in the old town. GPS N51.86381 E11.044940

We were back on the bikes this morning for another explore of Magdeburg.

If the bike shop is closed and you have a flat...never fear you can still get a new tube with this vending machine!

Then off we went to Halberstadt with its impressive religious arcitecture. It unfortunately suffered 80% destruction in WWII.
We visited the Gothic St Stephans Dom with its huge towers.

Then we visited this church with its 2 different towers joined by a walk way! Inside was a modern art exhibition...with the original altar, baptismal font and organ..made for an interesting combination!

Walked through the market in town on the way we saw some interesting sights....
Every town has their own design of drain cover!
Not too sure what this vending machine was selling but it was next to the church!

We then had a look at the Romanesque Liebfrauenkirche with 4 towers.

We then strolled along the narrow streets flanked with half-timbered colourful buildings.

The town has more on offer...historical city tram, a visit to the sausage factory, one of the largest and most valuable church treasures outside the Vatican, the oldest giant wine barrel plus many museums and more! Amazing...maybe tomorrow!
