Skocjan Caves to Kobarid Slovenia

Travelled:145km
Stay:Kamp Koren, Kobarid €26 (no electricty) N46.2495 E13.5870
Visited: Skocjan Caves and Kozak Waterfalls

We had a beautiful day exploring the amazing things nature has to offer.
We started with a visit to the Skocjan caves. It is part of Karst area and is also a UNESCO site. We first did a guided tour that took us through a couple caves with classic formations. The second cave was an impressive 30m high. We then walked into an awe inspiring underground canyon that the Reka River flows through. It looked magical with mainly only the path lit. We crossed the river on a suspended bridge that is 50m above the river bed. We could see the original tracks the explorers had made to visit the cave when it was first discovered.

Once we exited the cave we saw a waterfall on our way to another cave where we followed a path closer to the river.

It was truly a unique experience.

No photos were allowed inside the cave.

After some lunch we decided to see some more nature rather than head to the capital city. So we drove to Tolmin and then further along the Soca river to Kobarid. It was late in the afternoon and hot, so we had a refreshing dip in the Soca River.

After dinner we had a pretty walk to the Kozjak Waterfall.
