Klagenfurt Austria

Travelled:223km
Visited: Klagenfurt
Stay:Lauernblick Restaurant Carpark on R99 near Radsadt N47 21.7860' E13 29.5200'

Got into Klagenfurt nice and early and managed to find aparking spot near the theatre just a short walk to the centre of the old town, which had a beautiful ambiance.

We enjoyed our 3 hours of walking around admiring the architecture. The town had been rebuilt in the 16 th century after being destroyed by fire.

Mark had a herring sandwhich for breakfast...some people where already drinking wine and beer at 9am!

We also did a tad of shopping.
The dragon is the towns symbol.

From here we drove up to the hilltop fortress of Hochosterwitz which os said to have inspired Walt Disney's Snow White. It was unfortunatelym very hot so we opted out walking 800m up the hill to visit inside.

We took the motorway towards Salzburg and stopped on the way to use the free wifi at the petrol station as Apple had a software update and had used up all of our 500mb data this morning. 1 hour or so later we were back on the road, hopping off the motorway and Rennweg.

We had a quick look at Moosham castle and enjoyed a refreshing beer before continuing up road #99 to a Steppleplatz in Tweng.

This was a parking area for a hotel/spa. We relaxed for a bit and then I went to inquire about dinner and I was told that it would cost €20 for the privilege of parking overnight (this did include services). We decided to hit the road and see if we could spot a freebee spot along the way, but this is not France, and motorhomes are not allowed to free park. So we came down the mountain into the very smelly next valley. The were spreading the cow manure over the fields!

Just before reaching Radstadt, Mark spotted a restaurant and was told it was ok to sleep the night in the carpark if we had a meal. So we enjoyed a delicious meal. After dinner we went for a walk and had to quickly return to Bluey when we were attacked by March flies! Hopefully it will be a peaceful night.
