Finisterre Spain

Travelled:234km
Visited: Camariñas, Muxia, Cabo Finisterre, Muros
Stay: Muros- free parking in the harbour, no services GPS N42.77516 W9.0573

We woke up to another beautiful sunny day. We took the inland road to Camarinas, a fishing town that is well known for its bobbin lace manufacturing.

We then drove around the bay to Muxia, which is a popular stop for the St.James pilgrams who continue their quest to Cabo Finisterre (World's End). After a very satisfying lunch and a short walk out to the church, we made our way there.

It was long considered to be the most westerly point of Continental Europe, though in fact this is in Portugal. As this is the last part of the pilgrim walk, many have left 'offerings' - items of clothing/shoes they wore, their walking sticks, photos and/or letters. Some burn their 'offerings', while others have stuffed these under a rock or even in a pile. A little messy, but never the less it is a beautiful place to visit and admire the great view.

A message to us all.

The port town Fisterra.

We had thought of staying in the parking area provided for autocaravans, but after consulting Camy and finding out we were over 2 hours away from Santiago de Compostela, we decided to do the lovely drive along the coast road to Muros. Surprisingly arid after such greenery.

A view of Cabo Finisterre across the bay.

A Granary found on many properties. In Muros one in needing of repair was for sale for 6,000 eu.
We found a parking spot near the little beach next to the harbour and had a stroll around the old quarter with its well preserved granite buildings.

Later this evening we took a walk on the port and watched a fishing boat getting unloaded.
