Lima River Portugal

Travelled:80km
Visited: Viana do Castelo, Ponte de Lima
Stay: Ponte de Lima- free parking along the river, no services GPS N41.77052 W8.5847

After stopping to do some grocery shopping, we followed the coast road to Viana do Castelo. We walked around the old quarter. They were packing up from a medieval festival they hosted on the weekend. We enjoyed admiring the architecture.

From here we took the freeway to Ponte de Lima. It is known as the oldest town in Portugal established in 1125. The market that was on in town that has been going since then. It is the largest market we have ever been to.

After exploring the market we also had a walk around the old quarter.

We cooled down with a refreshing beer then ventured across the roman-gothic bridge to have a look at the award winning gardens. Every year they do a different theme. This year its is Gardens of Celebration. Walking back across the river we found a shady spot to cool off as it was a hot 30°+ day.
