No sunshine to be seen today, but at least it didn't rain. The first part of our drive was a bit hair raising. Camy took us the shortcut way to the main road. Even though this VERY narrow road was mainly being used by walkers, we still had to manouver past 2 cars going the other way. We both breathed a sigh of relief when we got to the two lane road, only to then have to drive along this windy road through dense fog, which was a pity as the only reason we took the road over Mount Jaizkibel, was to get some views! After dodging some crazy Spanish bike riders, we descended the other side of the mountain into San Sebastian.
We found the aire and took off on the bikes as we are parked a few kms away from the action. We road around the bay to the old quarter and chained up the bikes and took in the great atmosphere. We popped into the 2 churches, one gothic style, the other Baroque.
We were then tempted by the many pintxo (tapas) bars and sampled a few for lunch.
In Constitucion Square, where there once was a bullring, we were lucky enough to watch some traditional dancers and sample some local wine.
We then hopped on the bikes and road around the bay from Mount Urgull, where the Sacred Heart monument presides over the city, around to the western end, where there is a unique sculpture and a funicular railway offering great views.
