We began our day with a drive to Cudillero. A picturesque fishing village with multi-coloured houses built on the hillside cascading down towards the harbour and thus attracting many visitors. There are lots of restaurants, tourist shops and accommodation, including an aire- free parking at the port. We had a pleasant stroll around and then decided to continue on our way along the coast.
The next towns mentioned in our guide book were Laurca and Castropol. We found that the parking areas were a bit too far from the centre of town and they were not as we expected, so we decided in both cases to skip a visit. In the end we cannot stop at every town!
Anyway we did end up diverting to a place called Castro de Coana, which sounded interesting. It was a village dating back to the Iron Age with 80 circular dwellings surrounded by moats and palisades. Unfortunately the museum was closed so we were unable to visit the ruins.

So we then drove to the quaint seaside village of Rinlo. We parked up on the cliff just out of the village and had a pleasant stroll around. There is also a 16 km trail along the bay on a well defined path if we were feeling energetic.
Many properties had these structures used for drying/storage.
Even though we could have stayed the night here we continued west along the tourist route for 6km and came to As Catedrais. It is a well known spot for its rock formations As Catedrales and thus has a large parking area, toilets and a restaurant.
So we spent the rest of the afternoon walking along the beach and board walk admiring the rocks and rugged coastline.
