Spain to Portugal

Travelled: 145km
Visited:Combarro(es), A Guarda(es), Vila Nova de Cerveira(p)
Stay: Vila Nova de Cerveira- large free parking area, free services GPS N41.93823 W8.74685

It was a beautiful drive along the coast to Pontevedra. We stopped in Combarro, a lovely little village wellknown for its horreos close to the sea. We strolled around and bought a couple of souvenirs. Pity it wasn't lunchtime as the restaurants had a great atmosphere.

We decided to skip the big towns of Pontevedra and Vigo and headed to A Guarda at the mouth of the Minho River. We took the toll road most of the way, costing only €5.30 in total. From Baiona we drove along the not very busy coast road, probably due to there being no beaches.

We had a walk along the small port of A Guarda, with its colourful buildings and very popular restaurants. We could stay for the night, but being still early in the day we decided to continue on into Portugal and sopped in Vila Nova de Cerveira.

The town is very pretty to visit and the buildings are quite different most being painted white, while some others have coloured tiles. We strolled past a café and had our first Portuguese custard tart. We then had a stroll along the the river where many of the locals were enjoying their Sunday afternoon.
