Stay: Camp Perun Lipce €30 (near Bled) N46.4151 E14.1056
Visited: Triglav NP Vrsic Pass, Vintgar Gorge Slovenia
We left as early as we could to go over Vrsic Pass before it got too busy.
At Trenta we saw the sign for #50 hairpin turn.
Unfortunately it was already difficult to find a place to stop there, but we did manage to park near a hut a bit further on. We had a walk around and took in the magnificent views.
We then descended the mountain towards Kranjska Gora doing another 25 hairpin turns. The Pass was built by Russian prisoners of WWI, to send supplies to the Habsburg armies defending the Soca front. At the bottom we stopped off to have a look at an overnight spot that we had been to before.
We decided to continue on to Lake Bled but detoured just before to Vintgar Gorge. We possibly arrived at the busiest time, 11:30am, and we were directed to a free parking spot.
We then lined up for a ticket @ €5 pp. and walked along the 2km long ravine carved by the rushing water of the aqua blue clear waters of the Rodovna river. The wooden walkways were first constructed in 1893. The walk culminated at the 16m high Sum waterfall where we had a rest before making our return journey.
By this time it was 2:30pm so we decided that Lake Bled could wait until tomorrow and made our way to a campsite just out of town.
