Ceske Budejovice & Trebon Czech

Travelled:54km
Visited:Cesky Krumlov, Ceske Budejovic, Trebon in Czech Republic
Stay:Trebon- paid parking 10czk/hour free 7pm to 8am. N48.9989 E14.7731

We decided that it was worth heading back into town to climb the Krumlov Castle Tower. (Cost 100czk each).

We enjoyed the views over the old town and then set off to Ceske Budejovic.
We managed to find some free street parking not too far from the city centre.
As we crossed the bridge we passed the Iron Maiden tower named after the instrument of torture that was used here.

A little further up the street we came to the very impressive town square which is surrounded by arcaded houses in all different colours and shaped cables.

The blue Town Hall is quite beautiful.

We popped into the church to have a quick look.
We couldn’t help ourselves and decided that a climb up the Black Tower for 30czk was a bargain.
225 steps later we were starring down at the red roof tops and the square. Inside there are several bells, the largest weighing 3.5tons.

We were getting hungry and thirsty by this stage, however due to the blood alcohol level being 0 in Czech and we didn’t want to stay overnight where we were parked, we had to choose another destination for tonight. Trebon seemed a good choice and so 30mins later we were parked up and heading to the local brewery ‘Bohemia Regent’ to sample the local produce. It’s quite old being founded in 1379 by the Augustinian Monks (you got to love those monks!).

The heart of the old town revolves around its charming main square, again with plenty of colour and different shape cables.

The neo-Gothic Schwarzenberg Tomb.

The town is also well known for its fish ponds and spas (not together I hope).
It is known as the fish capital of Czech and we were down wind of the Carp fish ponds.
The restaurants here sell Carp chips..none of us were game especially after seeing the quality of the water in the lake! It takes 12 km to go around the lake which seemed a very popular pursuit today with plenty of riders in their Lycra.

The Trebon Chateau is a large Renaissance complex.

Then it was another relaxing evening playing cards.
