Visited/Stay:Armschlag Austria-€3 parking in dedicated motorhome area, services available €4 N48.4529 E15.2192
We decided to have a rest day, so we chose a spot in Austria that we thought would be appropriate. About half an hour after crossing the border we arrived in Armschlag. We were surprised to see bus loads of people but there was plenty of room at the dedicated motorhome parking area.
As it turns out this little village is famous for its poppy seed and has even patented a unique Waldviertel Grey poppy seed. There were tours explaining the production and cultivation of the poppy seed as well as a shop selling lots of poppy products.
We all went on a tractor ride to a poppy field. Unfortunately due to low rain fall in the early stages of plant growth, the farmers had to replant the seedlings but retained one small field for the tourists.
After a relaxing afternoon we treated ourselves to some local styled meals at the brauhaus. Needless to say all had poppy seed in them.
This was downed with the local Zwettl brew. Cheers.
Looks good!
