Budapest final day

We spent another terrific day in Budapest. The weather had cleared and so we took the bus up to Castle Hill. We were lucky to find a lift in Buda Castle that took us to the top. We then took in the view of Pest from Buda.
We then went to the beautiful area of Fishermen’s Bastion and the impressive Matyas church.

We found the Hospital in the Rock which some of us visited. The area under Castle Hill is a labyrinth of tunnels. Some parts were used as a hospital during the war and the 1956 uprising. During the communist era it was used as a secret nuclear shelter.
We all met up in shopping boulevard for lunch.

Later in the afternoon we took the trolley bus to the Szechenyi baths supplied by springs 970m deep discovered in 1876. We tried out all the different heated pools and saunas. There are plenty of baths in the city but this is the largest complex.
Beer spa.
No young children allowed at the baths so it was to the Zoo for him...
On the way home we bought some takeaway Goulash and relaxed at the apartment.
