This morning cars were starting to surround Bluey so we looked out the window and noticed that the market was in town. So after our coffee we went and bought some fruit and some fresh ravioli.
How wierd do these vans look?
Laying cobblestones the old fashion way. They have a long way to go!
Just out of town we stopped to have a look at Pollenzo where they had uncovered many burial sites from the Roman era. They also discovered that there had also been a 10,000 seat coloseum but houses were built on the foundations and the lower chambers are now their cellars and the arena a garden.
There were also some other lovely buildings in this town.
We then made our way up to La Morra 535m, which offered a hazy view of the surrounding hills covered in vinyards.
We climbed up the clock tower and we're deafened by the bell ringing the 11th hour.
We had a look in the products of the region store where we bought some sauce to go with the pasta.
We enjoyed lunch the italian way before wondering around the streets of Barolo.
The castle holds a Wine Museum. We had a look in the wine store in its cellar.
Grinzane Cavour was our last stop for the day. This area is also famous for its white truffles. We visited the castle which once belonged to Count Camillo Benso and who helped grow the wine industry including the use of sulphur and closed wine barrels. He was also a leading figure in the Unification of Italy. We purchased a couple of bottles before parking Bluey for the night.
