Into the Susa Valley

Travelled:137km
Visited: Alba, Castello di Rivoli, Susa
Stay:Susa-aire, free parking and services GPS N45.13862 E7.05389
We started the rainy morning with Mark listening to another close win by the Bombers. Feeling contented we drove to Alba and managed to find a parking spot quite easily. It was clothing market day and the streets were full with stalls. With our map from the tourist office we managed to see most of the interesting buildings (mainly churches) in town.

After a purchase of some fresh pasta for lunch, we took off to Torino. Unfortunately we chose an aire in the slums of town and lost confidence in approaching the centre. We were also amazed at the prostitutes scattered along the roads in the corn fields and even on a round about, that lead into the city! Feeling a little put off we followed the books suggestion to go to the Rivoli castle. The surroundings were overgrown and the carpark deserted. We stopped to have lunch and then we did go and have a look around the outside as we weren't interested in the contempory art exhibit.

We then escaped the 'city' and headed for the more pleasant country villages. Our stop for tonight was Susa. A very busy spot with lots of motorhomes in the parking area. Again with map in hand we had a lovely walk in the sunshine, looking at some roman ruins and of course some more churches. A good way to end the day.
