Col d'Aubisque and Soulor France

Travelled:52km
Visited:Col d'Aubisque, Col de Soulor
Stay: Argeles-Gazost-free parking at Carrefour supermarket GPS N43°0.2670' W0°5.1822'

After having a chat with our children, Tom and Claire, we headed up the narrow winding roads through the Valentin Valley to the Col d'Aubisque at 1709m alt. We were lucky to see the high surrounding peaks before the cloud blew in again. We had a walk along a ridge admiring the two valleys and then doubled back to Bluey to continue our journey to the next Col de Soulor at 1474m. These roads are very popular with cyclist as it is a common Tour de France route. The cyclist even over took Bluey on the way down! The cloud was getting thicker, so after a walk about the Col, we drove down to Argeles-Gazost. We hadn't planned on staying here, but when we went to the supermarket we spotted the designated parking area and decided to stay. After shopping and dinner we had a nice stroll admiring the pretty houses.

Views of Gourette and surrounding peaks.

There were lots of horses.

How big is that bell!

That is road we just travelled on.

There are lots of donkey hire places to use on hikes.
