Cirque de Gavarnie France

Travelled:26km from Gavarnie to Luz St Sauveur
Visited: walk to Cirque de Gavarnie
Stay: Luz St Sauveur- free parking, no services GPS N42°51.8730' W0°0.5214'

We had a brilliant day. Woke up to relatively clear skies so we drove back down to the parking area closer to town, had breakfast and set off on the walk to the Cirque de Gavarnie. This is a natural rock amphitheatre formed by glaciers. The 1500m high curving rock wall has the highest waterfall at 422m, in France. We walked the extra distance to the foot of the Grande Cascade, before doubling back the way we came. Due also to its easy access, this area is one of the most visited spots in the Pyrenees. You can also do it by donkey or on horse back.
We spent the rest of the afternoon back at the aire, enjoying the sunshine and the view. We also took the opportunity to do a bit of washing.
We then went back down the valley and stopped in the little village of Gedre. Motorhomes are tolerated in the tobboggan parking area. We had a stroll around but decided to continue on. We spotted other motorhomes parked up just as we were entering the town of Luz St Sauveur. So here we stopped and had a yummy dinner of duck fillet with my special potoato dish.

The French are every where wiper sniping, rain, hail or shine. No job is too big or difficult. They are amazing.

    1. Hi Jenny, just a quick and easy dish. In a pan fry up onion, garlic, bacon, capsicum, mushroom, carrot, cubed potato and some peas. Season how ever you like. Has to be in one pan in the motorhome.
