We spent a beautiful day riding around Strasbourg. Firstly we visited the Notre Dame cathedral, built out of pink sandstone it dominates the skyline and the centre of town. It was the highest building in Christendom until the end of the 19th century. We walked via 332 steps up a tower to a viewing platform offering superb views of the city. Inside was the most ornate organ we have seen so far and a huge Astronomical clock dating back to the 16th century. Quite amazing.

We then rode through the very charming 'Petite France' district, admiring the architecture. We saw another Vauban structure. This time a dam built to strengthen the city's defences by being able to flood the land on the south, causing armies to flounder in it.

We rode along the banks of the river, through a few squares and gardens, then up to the area to the European Parliament, the Palace of Europe and the Human Rights Building.
We finished our day riding over the Rhine River into Germany ( and then back again!).
