We had a pleasant day wondering around Metz. Our first stop was to do an 1 1/2 audio guided visit of the St Etienne Cathedral. It is famous for it 6,500 m2 of stained glass windows and with having the 3rd tallest vaults in France at 42m.
We then made our way to the train station built in 1908, it is 300m long and was designed to load and unload 20,000 troops and their equipment in 24 hours. Opposite is the main Post Office built in 1911 of red Vosges sandstone, a contrast to the majority of the buildings here built of yellow Jaumont limestone.
We continued on walking around and enjoying the town.
