Yeoval, Wellington to Ponto Falls Reserve NSW

It was our coldest morning so far that we stayed in our warm bed while the diesel heater got the internal temperature up to 19°C… much cosier than 10°C.  We doubled back into Peak Hill getting a look at the first verticale silos to be built in Australia in 1918. More silos we added in 1927 and then 3 more in 1950.
A few kilometres pass Tomingley we turned right off the Newel Highway, driving to Yeoval. We stop to get some wood.

Along the way we spotted a few of the 120 ‘Animals on a Bike’ sculptures that are on the road between Molong to Dubbo.

The small town is famed for its connection with Banjo Paterson who spent his first 7 years here. We had to stop to get a photo with the Banjo style Big Hat.

There was also a 6m high, 6 tons sculpture of Henry Moore done by Drago Cherina.

The mosaic was also lovely but unfortunately in need of repair.
We continued on our way to Wellington stopping at the Tourist Information Centre that has 3 historic brochures of the town and area. We do a spot of shopping and a quick drive around taking in some of the sites.

The Lion of Waterloo Hotel dates back to 1841 constructed of hand cut ironbark slabs and bricks made by convicts. Across the street was where the last official duel in Australia was thought to have occurred.
We then head 15km out of town to Ponto Falls Reserve and find ourselves a beautiful spot on the Macquarie River.
