During the night we heard the pitter-patter of the rain on Buster’s roof. By the time we had a coffee and some breakfast it had stopped so we took off on a 5km walk to Lucifers Thumb Lookout. It was a lovely walk through the forest of a variety of trees. We got a glimpse of the top of the Chaelundi Falls albeit in heavy fog.
We debated whether it was worth going further due to the limited view but thought it was a nice walk either way. Luckily we were rewarded with an astounding panorama, stuck between the high and low clouds.
On our return journey we had another look at the falls and could see a bit further this time.
On our way out we managed to get some phone reception and got some advice that the road conditions to Dalmorton were good, so we turned left for another 39km.We decided that the road should be renamed Lyrebird Highway as we spotted plenty along the way as they tried to outrun Buster.
We eventually descended down to Dalmorton, an old gold rush area.
Now there seems to be mainly cows. We had lunch on the banks of the Boyd River where Mark spotted a lovely campsite that was too good to pass up. We spent a peaceful afternoon under the awning watching the rain fall.
