We leave peaceful Mannus Lake and 15km later find ourselves in the timber town of Tumbarumba. We avail ourselves of the dump point before parking in the RV area in the middle of town.
We walk under the large verandas up and down the main street. A breakfast pie beckoned at the bakery, warming us from the inside out.
Fortified we continued our journey driving through the apple capital of Batlow. Unfortunately, we are 3 weeks early for the annual cider festival, so we push on.
Another 26km along the road we descend into Adelong, with its origins steeped in pioneer history and gold. We make our way to the Adelong Falls Gold Mill Ruins which boasts a collection of the remains of stone buildings and the Reefer quartz crushing mill.
After our exploration we enjoyed a stroll in town which has 3 antique shops, pubs and more gold history.
As it was still early in the day we decided to keep going. We needed to visit a Bunnings store, so made our way to the large regional town of Wagga Wagga, set on the banks of the Murrumbidgee. We sourced the cheapest fuel yet $179.9 and made our purchase at Bunnings (Fusion Locs) before getting loaded with brochures at the Tourist Information Centre. We then settled in a spot at the popular free camp in Wilks Park.
From here we walked back over the river and along the levy bank to look at the numerous murals to the the Riverside Park and Church St.
