We began today’s journey with a drive up to Beacon Hill Lookout offering historical interpretive signs and a 360° panorama of the town and surrounding bushland.
Slag heap from mining activities..
After completing the short walking trail we descended back into town and had a look at the old mining equipment in display at Phoenix Park.

We then followed the 25km Dundas Heritage trail out of town, stopping at the 10 sites along the way. Once again learning on the mining history of the area.
From here we continued south to Esperance for a quick pit stop for food and fuel. We also popped in at the Tourist Information centre to purchase our National Parks Pass as a printed copy needs to be displayed in the car. We had already paid for the campsite via the National Park website. It was only another 43km to the La Grand campsite and we quickly chose a spot.
After some refreshments we set about mending the chip in the windscreen we got from a truck. Had a hot shower. Then went for a walk along the gorgeous beach before and then after an early dinner (still in South Australia Time zone haha). We enjoyed the beautiful sunset … a lovely way to end another busy day.
