This morning we watched the sunrise and the waves pound the Bunda Cliffs.
We stopped at a the 3 official lookouts of the Great Australian Bight that runs for 206km and is on average 90m high.
We stopped at Border Town and played a hole of the golf links course.
Now that’s big tyres..
The iconic big roo at Border Town..

We ate the rest of our contraband vegetables and fruit that could not be taken across into Western Australia. Then we presented ourselves at the border check point with our G2pass and quarantine check…passing with flying colours. As it happens it was not a moment too soon as Victoria once again has a COVID outbreak and border restrictions becoming in force at 6pm!
Just over the border in Eucla we drove down from the high plains to look at the ruins of the old telegraph station. In the early 1900’s this was the busiest in Australia beyond the capital cities, sending 11,000 messages annually.
We continued on the A1 past Mundrabilla where Australia’s biggest meteorite (10tons+) was discovered nearby. Gutsy stuff…riding a bike on the Nullarbor.
We ascended from the Roe Plains up to Madura Pass and topped up with fuel $1.84 (cheaper in Eucla & Mundrabilla @ $1.74). In 1876 horses were bred here to be sent to India for the British Army.
We did a quick drive through at Cocklebiddy roadhouse and took a photo of the rescued eagles.
We then got to our overnight stop at Nuytsland Nature Reserve and settled in. We decided on an early dinner WA time as it’s 1 1/2 hours less than SA… then a walk before it got dark…goodness knows what time we will wake up tomorrow…
