Streaky Bay, Eyre Peninsula SA

Travelled: 194km via Venus Bay, Streaky Bay to Haslam RV park $10pn

This morning we enjoyed our breakfast at looking out from the cliffs out the back of Venus Bay.

We then walked out on the curved jetty that is set in the calmer water of the bay.

On the way to Streaky Bay there are a few turnoffs to ‘Places of Interest’ but as we have been there before we decided to skip these. We did look at Eyre’s Water Hole.

However we hadn’t done the coastal drive just out of Streaky Bay  and stopped at a couple of places. We were lucky enough that the tide was high enough for The Whistling Rocks to be working. Unfortunately the blowholes weren’t.

We were disappointed that the fishnchip shop was closed so just had a sandwich in Traky and continued on. We got some fuel at Shell and I quickly went in to get a photo of the 5m/1520kgs Great White Shark caught in 1990.

Tonight we decided to be sheltered from the wind and stay in Haslam at the RV park. It’s a tiny hamlet that survives on the oyster beds (none available due to the high tide level). We strolled out on the jetty watching squid getting caught and chatting our neighbours for the night.
