Stay: Yangie Bay campground - park entry fee plus $13pn - site 10 (-34.640091,135.361935)
We spent the morning in Port Lincoln doing a load of washing, shopping, getting fuel and a swapngo gas bottle. We drove out to the boat harbour to have a look at the fishing vessels moored there before continuing on our journey to Coffin Bay.
The town is well know for its oyster that are grown in the nearby sheltered waters. Unfortunately the grey skies and rough sea due to the gusty wind, hindered the view of the turquoise water.
We managed to find an oyster farmer selling out the back of the town in amongst the sheds. He kindly gave us 30 instead of the 2doz @ $10/doz, we purchased.
Feeling excited for our dinner later we didn’t waste anymore time and headed into the National Park to find a spot at Yangie Bay (the only camp area accessible with a caravan). I suppose this is why there were only a few spots left to choose from and made our decision on site 10.
Unfortunately for us the rest of the park is only accessible by 4WD and with being unsure of the tracks we were unwilling to take the cruiser any further. So we enjoyed our coffin bay oysters and chatted to a couple from WA before retiring for the night.
The next morning we drove out to Avoid Bay and Golden Island lookouts (bitumen) and admired the views of the beach, sand dunes and island from the rough and crumbling cliffs.
We took a photo of the oyster beds.
About 80km further north we drove in about 18km off the main road to Drummond Point. The area closest to the beach was quite busy so we found a beautiful spot on the cliffs (-34.156580, 135.256071) and enjoyed the warmth of the sun whilst watching the waves roll in.
