Victoria to Kingston SE SA

Travelled: 266km to Lake Lonsdale Victoria
Stay: Lake Lonsdale (-37.009240, 142.609772) free bush camp with toilets.

Well, we are finally off again with what seemed a bumpy start with a few health issues (nothing serious).
We had a relatively easy drive out of Melbourne, arriving at Lake Lonsdale in the early afternoon.
There are several site along the shores but we decided to stay at the boat ramp spot.
We enjoyed a pleasant afternoon in the warm sunshine with views of the lake and the Grampians in the background accompanied by the chirping from the birds and later the humming of the insects.

The park is looked after by GWMWater and we chatted to one of their workers who had been called out by a camper to help retrieve a phone that had fallen into the compost toilet. How’s that for service!

Travelled:250km via Horsham, Edenhope, Naracoorte (SA), Lucindale
Stay: 4 Mile Rest Stop near Lucindale (-37.026322, 140.370510)

After a peaceful night we continued on our way stopping in Horsham for fuel and the supermarket.
The giant koala at Dadswell Bridge.

In Edenhope we had some lunch by the lake and took advantage of the free hot shower.

We then made our way across the South Australian border to Naracoorte. We stopped at the quarantine bins to dispose of our fruit to protect SA from fruit fly contamination. Check out the website here.

The town of Naracoorte was founded in the mid 1800’s  and has retained some lovely stone buildings.

It is the Limestone Coastal region and is well known for its caves, which we have visited before. We stretched our legs with a walk down the main street before a visit with the dentist.
Another half hour down the road we spent the night at The 4 Mile Rest Stop. There was some old machinery on display with some history of the area.

Travelled:60km via Lucindale to Kingston SE, SA
Stay: 2 nights at Kingston SE RV Park (-36.827039, 139.851065) $10/72 hours

Morning sunrise.

It was a short drive to the small town of Lucindale this morning where we went for a little explore.

We stumbled on the local Open air Museum with some restored railway buildings and pioneer machinery.

We arrived mid morning in Kingston SE which was perfect to get a spot at the popular RV Park situated close to town on the shores of Lacepede Bay and the jetty.

It’s our 3rd time here and we always enjoy the quiet atmosphere. Although it can be a bit smelly from the drying seaweed…We spent the next couple days with walks along the jetty, foreshore and in town.

We even lashed out and had a meal at the Royal Mail pub one night.
