Another lovely sunny and hot day. We have really gone from the freezer into the frying pan! Our first destination was only 4km away at Schongau. A pretty little walled town with a nice square, colourful buildings and a decorative church.

Book library
Cigarette dispenser (Thought of you Ray)
Not sure what these colourful eggs would taste like..we left them for the locals.
After a quick shop we made our way to Landsberg. This is a very picturesque town on the Lech River with a large square, and also coloured buildings and even more decorative churches. We enjoyed a kebab for lunch followed by a beer before finishing our tour of the town including a couple of gate towers.

After googling the town we found out that the prison here once housed Hitler in 1924  after a failed coup and WWII it had the largest concentration camp in Germany. It was also here that the war criminals were executed. The town does not focus on this part of its history although we did see a sign about Johnny Cash having been stationed at the American base here. We continued on the Romantic route to Friedberg which was a tad delayed due to a traffic jam on the freeway. Lucky we managed an illegal u turn otherwise we would still be there...Our first choice of parking near the lake was unsurprisingly impossible as the warm weather had enticed everyone there for a swim. Fortunately we had another choice closer to town and decidedly quieter. Also giving us the option for an after dinner walk to have a look around.

Very creative 'yarn bomb'

 A nice old door.
