Rhone Glacier, Oberalppass, Vorderrhein Valley

Travelled : 159km
Stay:Rona- picnic area next to river, free parking N46.54139 E9.62737
Visited : Rhone Glacier,  Furkapass,  Oberalppass,  Vorderrhein Valley

We heard voices outside Bluey around 5 am and when we looked out at 7, we were surrounded by cars! Who would have thought. Then throughout the morning more hikers and even skiers turned up and headed to the Rhone Glacier. As amateurs we paid our chf14 to visit the ice cave they dig out every year for the past 170 years. This was the closest we would be getting to the Rhone Glacier...the source of the Rhone River.

From here we continued up to the Furkapass (2431m) and had a walk around.

It was then down into the Valley to Realp where you can take the train through the tunnel rather than going over the pass which can be closed.

Driving through Andermatt we then made our way up out of the valley and over Oberalppass 2044m. We had some lunch here, watching the helicopter make several delivery trips to a chalet (we presume)

So then it was once again down into the next valley this time towards Chur.

The parking we were hoping to stay at Dormat did not allow overnight stays so we continued to Rona towards St.Moritz. Feeling tired we decided to stop here.
