St.Moritz, Davos, Bad Ragaz

Travelled:160km
Stay:Bad Ragaz- free parking at soccer oval, 2km out of town. N47.0179 E9.50329
Visited : St.Moritz,  Fluelapass, Davos

The rain was back today which was a pity as we were driving through pretty valleys and over passes and their true beauty was obscured by the dull grey clouds....

Julierpass.

It took us an hour to arrive in St.Moritz where my Dad had worked at the Survetta Hotel many years ago as a pastry chef and even cooked for Charlie Chaplin.

Being a Sunday all the shops were closed and there were not many people about. So it was easy to find a parking spot paying Chf2/hour and we went for a walk around. We passed many high end label shops and a few interesting buildings before heading back to Bluey and driving to Davos. (If the weather has been any better we would have explored a little more).

An Olympic village as well as hosting other ski championships.

The leaning tower of St.Moritz. Although there were a few older traditional style buildings, most of the town has a modern nearly sterile feel to it, like many ski resort towns.

As we approached Fluelapass we spotted a few riders and realised that they were the tail end of the Tour de Swiss. At the pass there was a bit of a bottle neck so we decided to stop for lunch.  On our way down the other side there was constant Tour traffic going the other way with many team buses making their way to the next stage. We entered Davos and drove around but didn't feel inclined to get out to visit.

We managed to find our way out due to the road closure for the finishing line for the tour. We then continued on to our stop for tonight in Bad Ragaz. We braved the drizzle and went to walk into town. It has a casino and 5 star spa hotel but not much for the 'tourist'. Like every year we have seemed to have reached a lull in our travels and need to reinvigorate ourselves for the last part of our journey . A bit of sunshine and warm weather would help too!

There were a few interesting sculptures around town.
