We enjoyed our day of rest yesterday.  We had intermittent rain but managed to have several walks - into the village and around the lake. Mark also did the wiring for a new power point. So we weren't completely idle.

Feeling rested we were ready to take on the day....the sun was shining and we were heading to King Ludwig 's fantasy castle, Neuschwanstein which inspired Disneyland.

We drove through some beautiful countryside along the Austrian border before passing through Fussen and finding a parking in Hohenschwangau (Motorhomes are €8.50/6 hrs ).

We had decided not to visit inside but just enjoy the views and walks through the lovely forest etc to both castles in this area. We soon realised that this is a major tourist attraction with plenty of tour buses. It was busy enough without imagining the amount of people it would attract in the height of summer. Hint for visit: Definitely plan ahead a buy your tickets on line.

We immersed ourselves in the German culture and had a currywurst and schnitzel for lunch, washed down with the local brew at the beer hall.

Feeling very contented we continued our journey heading north along the well known Romantic Road, finding a nice spot in Peiting. We had a walk around and bought a new bike pump and rain covers for our back packs. Be prepared is the motto! Tonight we enjoyed lamb chops on the barbie... life is good.

If you get to the bottle shop and you have nothing for dinner, never fear, vending machine selling fresh eggs, meat and cheese...different from the pizza ones we have seen..
