Granada

Travelled : 59km

It was an easy drive into Granada this morning. As there are not many service points available in this area we asked at a service station if we could empty the toilet cassette in the toilet. We had success on the second one we asked. Otherwise we were going to ask at a camp ground. Our next challenge was to find a parking spot. The first one we went to was a bit tight for Bluey,  but we noticed motorhomes parked in an area not far and we were lucky enough to get a spot.
We rugged up, packed the brollies and headed into town. It was a pleasant 30min walk along the stream into the old city to the Cathedral.

We visited the La Madraza Palace that used to be an Arab university with a beautifully decorated Moorish mihrab (prayer niche) and timber decorated ceiling.

We then went to the tourist office to get a map and some information on getting tickets for the famous Alhambra. It is said to be the most visited tourist attraction in Spain. We had tried to pre purchase tickets on line but it was sold out until June! The other option was to arrive at 6:30am to buy tickets at the gate (not too keen on that one). We did find out that if we went to the Corral del Carbon at 4pm we may be able to buy tickets...there was hardly a queue and we were successful!

During the time before this we explored the Albaicin district and walked up to the lookout at San Nicolas which had a great view of the Alhambra.

From here we wound down the narrow streets flanked with white washed houses reminiscent of the Moorish era. We eventually reached the Rio Darrio and followed it back to the main part of town.
Some of the sights we could visit were closed from 2:30 - 5pm so we decided to have a bite to eat and head back to Bluey to rest the legs for tomorrow's big visit. Fitbit steps today 17,800
