We said our fairwells to Monica and Alfonso.

It was wonderful to see them again and have a good catch up over tapas and sangria. We are slowly headed North destination Andorra but decided to explore the mountain area first. Our first stop today was at the hilltop castle in Cardona. We walked around reading the historical information provided and enjoyed the view of the Cardener valley as well as watching the salt mine in action.

Mark is liking this roof
The salt had been mined here since 3 BC by the Romans and has been very important since then.

Now This is rock salt! Bit hard to sprinkle on your food.

We then had a look at the walled town of Solsona.

The Catalonian flag is proudly shown everywhere here. They want to become independent as they don't consider themselves Spainish.
Now this is how you sell olives!

From here we drove to our stop for tonight. It was a beautiful drive over the Coll de Boixols 1380m into the next fertile valley offering great views.

Today's door knocker!
