Ronda

Travelled : 108km
Visited & Stay : Ronda- mixed parking, no services N36.7507 W5.17105
As we left this morning towards Ronda we drove briefly along the Costa del Sol and had a glimpse of the resorts that hug the shore line inticing holiday makers to come and stay.
For us the call of the mountains is greater and at Sabinillas we took the bumpy A 377 to Benarraba.  Every now and then we would get a view of the coast. Unfortunately the clouds were low hindering a clear outlook. The further up we ventured we saw the white villages (in the Moorish tradition) scattered on the hillsides.

We did a brief detour from the A369 to Benarraba and we're amazed at the aire provided, each spot with their own service point (N36.5493 W5.27904). A great rural location but too early for us to stop. We were surprised that no one was there.

We continued on and drove through the centre of Ronda, even driving over the bridge to this parking area indicated on park4night.

We parked amongst the other motorhomes and set off to explore.

This town attracts the tourists. It is an ancient city sitting on a massive rocky outcrop with a canyon in the middle of which the Puente Nuevo (120m high) joins the town together. Although we do not support bull fighting, we decided to visit the bullring as it was the first purpose built space for bull fighting in the world inaugurated in 1785. However even earlier from1572 the area has been well known for its equestrian prowess.

After our visit we made our way to the impressive bridge.

We then explored the old quarter before making our way back to Bluey.

 Door knocker for the day.
