Costa Blanca

It's not often I don't write a blog and give you all a day off but we did virtually nothing yesterday and we didn't even take a photo, so we had a day off too! Well actually Mark did spend a bit of time investigating the issue with our gas hot water heater and I did some photo back ups..but really nothing very exciting. We were tempted to stay in this bit of paradise one more day but Bluey was in need of an empty and a fill and we were curious to see what was over the next hill. The drive north wards was initially through fields of melons and over some hills giving us a lovely view of the coast.

We drove on the outskirts of Cartagena and noticed many mines in the area. We thought to go out to Mar Menor on a thin peninsula but it was very built up with high storey apartments and being Sunday, there was a traffic jam.
Thank goodness for roundabouts, as we quickly decided it wasn't for us and returned back to the freeway to continue our Northly journey to the Costa Blanca. The park4night site indicated possible overnight parking near Torrevieja. Although it is a very popular resort town as we drove in we noticed the salt works and found out that it is the most productive in Europe and is the second most important in the world!
We stopped for lunch on one of the cliff top car parks but decided not to stay and headed to a spot in Santa Pola which suited us better. There were lots of Spainish vans here but as the day grew late most of these left.
