Normandy D Day Landing Beaches

Travelled : 93km
Stay: Utah Beach - aire at the monument, free parking, no services N49°24.851' W1°10.738' / 49.41578, -1.17729

We continued our journey along the coastal road and visiting numerous D Day Normandy Landing sites.
Our first stop are the German bunkers at Longues sur Mer. It was a key element of the German 'Atlantic Wall' offensive. The site includes a range-finding post and four casemates, each housing 150mm gun.

Next was a visit to the American Cemetery where there are 9,387 headstones. A very impressive site with a great visitor center.
We stopped at the Omaha Beach Monument.

From here we went to Point Hoc, where the American Rangers attacked the German fortifications.

Our last stop was Utah Beach.
