Bergues, France

Travelled: 91km
Stay: Bergues, France- aire free parking, no services N50°57.941' E2°26.145' / 50.96669, 2.43433

From Brugge we headed to the North Sea coast and drove along the sea road. We didn't find it too inspiring with all the ugly multi storey apartments along the shore. We decided to continue on into France and to the lovely town of Bergues south of Dunkirk. After we settled in the aire, quite a big carpark just outside the ramparts, we went for a stroll into town, which was used to film the blockbuster french movie 'Bienvenue aux Ch'ti' ( Welcome to the Sticks). We spotted of few buildings used in the film and also went up the Belfry Tower that has a carillon of 50 bells.  We also tried the local beer, Ch'ti and went for a walk around on the ramparts that were partly constructed by Vauban.
